Assault charges are serious and should not be taken lightly. If convicted of a violent crime in New Jersey you could face jail time. It's important to have an experienced attorney to defend your rights if you have been charged with committing a violent crime.

A recent incident that took place after a New Jersey concert left five people robbed and beaten. According to a report, 20,000 people were leaving Newark's Prudential Center when a wave of violence broke out. A group of teenagers have been accused of a two-minute crime spree that left five people injured including a 23-year-old man with a fractured eye socket and a man who was left unconscious.

A Newark police official said that it appeared to be a group of 10 or 15 teenagers who were involved in three separate incidents which took place over a span of only a few minutes. The events were caught on video tape. No arrests have been made.

Police presence at the event was reduced from 20 officers to 14 but officials don't believe that the lower level of police staff at the event had an effect. The incident was only the second violent crime to take place in the arena since it opened in 2007.

According to a spokeswoman, "The city continues to provide police protection around the arena that goes above and beyond what is practiced at other arenas across the country, and still stands as one of the best guarded facilities in the city." Officials say that although the incident was unfortunate it was an isolated, and the arena is a safe place for residents to attend events.
