When a person feels threatened or otherwise unsafe, he or she may feel the need to defend him or herself. Such situations can become complicated, especially if events escalate quickly. If a person becomes seriously hurt during an alleged altercation, authorities may be called, and an individual may require legal information after being charged with aggravated assault.

A man in New Jersey may wish to gather information about his legal situation after he was taken into custody. It was reported that the man was apparently inside his home with another individual when the man shot the other person. It was unclear what may have led to the alleged incident, but it was noted that the other individual suffered injuries to his hand and abdomen due to being shot.

The injured party was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery for his wounds. He is currently considered to be in critical condition. The man who reportedly fired the weapon was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault. He apparently posted bail and was released from custody. Authorities are still investigating the situation.

The investigation can be important in determining what may have led to the situation. It could be a possibility that the man who is currently facing aggravated assault charges was attempting to defend himself or had other justifiable reasons for allegedly firing the gun. If the man wishes to maintain his innocence, he might want to consider exploring defensive options and gaining knowledge on criminal proceedings for such situations in New Jersey.
