About Our Work in the New Jersey Juvenile Justice System
In New Jersey, the juvenile justice system allows minors to get the help they may need, and does not simply focus on punishment. This may include participation in drug treatment programs, or assistance with anger management, psychological or social interaction problems.
This does not mean, however, that a juvenile offense will not put your child in a serious legal situation. Some charges carry serious potential penalties such as probation, confinement in a juvenile detention center or even a waiver to the adult criminal justice system. Our lawyers can help defend your child so that they get the rehabilitative help that they need or the defense that they deserve.
As attorneys at a small law firm, we have the advantage of being able to work directly with our clients. We work with children, their parents and schools to help families find meaningful resolutions that will help their children in the long run.
We will investigate whether the charges qualify for a diversionary program that results in a dismissal and/or a rehabilitation program. We can help try to resolve a child's case so that it doesn't effect college applications or employment opportunities.
