Facing serious criminal allegations can put a person’s thought process into a whirlwind. It may be difficult to think clearly and fully understand what legal options may be available. Luckily, accused individuals can gather information and apply it in a manner that best fits individual circumstances. Due to recent events regarding alleged sex crimes, one man in New Jersey is confronting these issues.

It was reported that a corrections officer was recently taken into custody for an alleged incident involving a 15-year-old girl. Reports indicated that the 34-year-old man had purportedly set up a meeting with the teen through a website. Supposedly, the two were to meet at a hotel. Authorities became alerted to the situation when the girl and another teen were stopped by police at the hotel.

The two girls reportedly stated that they had a dispute with the man and told police about the alleged meeting. The man was not at the scene when police arrived. Nonetheless, he was located by the authorities and taken into custody. He is suspected of having a sexual interaction with the 15-year-old girl, and as a result, he is facing charges for sexual assault, child endangerment and prostitution.

Due to the man’s predicament, he may wish to find out more about his legal options. Information on New Jersey criminal proceedings relating to sex crimes and on the charges that have been filed against him could allow him to better understand what he may face as his case proceeds. As always in such cases, the man is presumed innocent until — and only if — he is proven guilty in a court of law.
